In this article I bring Anér’s thoughts on data and digital technology, its’ laws and policies, and its development as part of society to bear on present concerns about artificial intelligence (AI). Asking if contemporary challenges of AI really are all that new, the chapter points to how Anér’s work from the Cold War era, and her legacy more broadly, can teach us something about AI as part of law, politics and society today.
