8 August, Beehive seminar at Melbourne Law School: Evangelical Lutheran Mission, Law, and the Colonial State as Corporation: The ‘Thick’ and the ‘Thin’ of Sovereign Power in the Congo Free State Online and on campus.

9 August, Keynote address: Artificial Intelligence, Law and Society: What Cold War Data Law and History can Teach us About Artificial Intelligence, Human-Data and More-Than-Human Relations, at 10:00-11:00. The launch is a full day event including also a pop-up art exhibition and lunch talk on ‘The Idea of Protection in Art and Culture by artist Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox and a panel discussion on academics’ role in the ecosystem of protection (panelists include Associate Professor Mai Sato (Monash), Professor Miranda Stewart (MLS), and Dr Alice Palmer (MLS)).

14 August, Workshop: Emerging Challenges in Law, Technologies, and Society at Deakin Burwood Corporate Centre (BCC) on 14 August 2024 at 12:00-14:00. The event features a conversation between law and technology experts on the role emerging technologies play in – and the challenges they pose to – the development of inclusive and democratic societies. Confirmed panelists include Professor Lyria Bennett Moses (UNSW-Sydney), Professor Matilda Arvidsson (University of Gothenburg), and Professor Shiri Krebs (Deakin). Lunch will be provided.
